Chapter 4: Safety & Responsible Use
IN THIS LESSON
Medical cannabis may cause side effects, and not all patients experience it the same way.
Common effects can include changes in attention, coordination, mood, or sleep. Some patients may also experience anxiety, dizziness, or gastrointestinal symptoms, particularly when starting or adjusting use.
Medical cannabis can interact with other medications, including those that affect mood, alertness, or heart rate. For this reason, it is important to share a complete and accurate medication list during your evaluation and follow-up visits.
Safety considerations are especially important when driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks that require alertness. Patients are encouraged to monitor how they feel, start with low doses if advised, and seek reassessment if side effects or concerns arise.
