Your Questions, Answered

A few common questions about our services, process, and what to expect.

  • Welmivia is a physician-led mental health consultation practice providing structured medical evaluations for adults across Virginia.

Services may include neuropsychiatric medication optimization, second-opinion consultation, medical documentation assessment, and evaluation for adjunctive therapies — including medical cannabis eligibility when appropriate under Virginia law.

Welmivia operates as an independent, private-pay practice focused on careful clinical judgment and documentation integrity.

  • Yes. All evaluations are conducted via secure telehealth, allowing patients across Virginia to access physician-led care privately and conveniently, without visiting a physical clinic.

  • All evaluations, clinical decisions, certifications, and documentation are conducted directly by a licensed Medical Doctor.

Welmivia does not utilize mid-level providers or delegated clinical staff.

  • Welmivia functions as a consultation practice and does not provide ongoing prescription management.

Our role is to provide structured evaluation, clinical guidance, and documentation. We may coordinate with your existing providers when appropriate.

  • BrightKaire™ by NeuroKaire™ is an advanced blood-based testing platform that may be considered during a Neuropsychiatric Medication Optimization Evaluation when clinically appropriate.

It combines pharmacogenomic (PGx) analysis — which evaluates how your body metabolizes certain psychiatric medications — with a derived neuroplasticity score designed to assess patterns related to medication response.

Testing is not required and is discussed only when it may provide meaningful clinical insight.

  • No. BrightKaire™ is a tool that may provide additional biologic insight, but it does not replace careful history-taking, risk assessment, or physician clinical judgment.

Results are interpreted within the context of your full medical and psychiatric history.

  • BrightKaire™ may be considered for individuals who:

    • Have tried multiple psychiatric medications without sustained improvement

    • Experienced significant side effects

    • Have partial or inconsistent response to treatment

    • Want a more data-informed framework before starting or changing medication

Testing eligibility is determined during a physician evaluation based on clinical history and presentation.

  • BrightKaire™ by NeuroKaire™ is billed separately from Welmivia’s consultation fees.

According to NeuroKaire™, the test may be covered by Medicare and certain insurance plans when medical necessity criteria are met. Coverage and out-of-pocket costs vary depending on individual insurance status and eligibility.

NeuroKaire™ bills directly for laboratory services. Patients are encouraged to verify coverage and financial responsibility directly with the testing provider prior to proceeding.

If testing is completed, a structured results review appointment with Welmivia may be scheduled to interpret findings in clinical context.

  • No. Clinical recommendations — including medical cannabis certification — are issued only when medically appropriate and consistent with professional standards and Virginia law.

If a requested treatment is not appropriate, this will be communicated clearly, with documentation reflecting the clinical reasoning.

  • Virginia law allows physicians to recommend medical cannabis based on clinical judgment rather than a fixed list of qualifying conditions.

Common conditions medical cannabis may be considered for:

    • Chronic pain

    • Anxiety disorders

    • PTSD

    • Insomnia

    • Neuropathic pain

    • Cancer-related symptoms

    • Seizure disorders

    • Multiple sclerosis

    • Other qualifying medical conditions as determined by clinical judgment

During your evaluation, the physician will review your medical and psychiatric history, symptoms, prior treatments, and potential risks to determine whether certification may be appropriate in your specific case.

For official information regarding Virginia’s medical cannabis program, patient registration, and regulatory guidance, please visit the Virginia Cannabis Control Authority (CCA) website.

  • Medical treatment decisions — including medical cannabis certification — may carry professional, legal, or employment-related considerations depending on individual circumstances.

Welmivia cannot provide legal advice or predict employer policies. We approach evaluations with discretion, regulatory awareness, and careful documentation.

If you have specific concerns, we encourage you to discuss them during your evaluation.

  • With your consent, we welcome coordination with your primary care provider or other treating clinicians when appropriate.

Welmivia is designed to support — not replace — your ongoing medical care.

  • When clinically appropriate, patients receive physician-prepared documentation consistent with professional standards and applicable Virginia regulations.

Documentation reflects thoughtful medical decision-making and supports continuity of care when needed.

  • No. Individualized medical advice and certification decisions are provided only during a physician evaluation.
